Anyone out there have any personal experience using the red berries of
the N. American native honeysuckle (L. canadensis)? I found a few refs
on PFAF that indicated the berries may be edible. My daughter threw in a
handful to our chickens and they relished them. I have tried four
berries over one week period with no adverse effects. The berries, of
unique taste, do have a bit of an acrid aftertaste, but possibly good
for cooking? We have at least 300 of these shrubs loaded with fruit and
wondered if anyone had used them before.
