We have several rose of sharon bushes, I've read their
flowers are edible, and now that it's fall they're
putting on pretty large seed pods that look just like a
large rose hip. Any ideas if these rose of sharon hips
are good sources of vitamin C/tea as are rose hips?
Some of our plants that bolted in the summer have come
back nicely. I have several nice borage plants going,
also the lovage, the remaining yard is well covered
with clover, and the various places about the property
that have garlic chives have sprouted. The bed of
turnip greens is ready to begin harvesting, I think
I've mentioned planting a bed of multiplier onions and
shallots, also one of garlic, yesterday I planted a bed
of the walking onions.
The agrotriticum has a nice strong stand, and the hairy
vetch/crimson clover is getting a good stand, even in
some of the rough spots I planted it. And we're still
harvesting tomatoes. Nice growth in the spearmint and
lemon balm patches, and the catnip we planted earlier
this year has developed into a nice little patch.
