Hi- forwarding this response recieved after
forwarding the various messages re. PC Copyright to the UK PC list (this is
going to get complicated..... Maybe we need an international bulletin board set
up to facilitate discussion of this stuff.....)
Cheers, Graham

Subject: reply to Eric Storm Hello there, while I agree that it is important to keep PC fresh with new ideas designing our own systems etc I feel that this overlooks the fact that PC is not about specific desins or systems but about aproach - the approach to self reliant living that is the core of permaculture - all the ingenutiy, all the innovations etc etc come from the diversity of this approach whatever it is called - at the same time permaculture is becoming recognised around the world and is gainig a great deal of credability among mainstream organisations - this is all good stuff the dangers here are two fold: 1 - lack of standardisastion so that those who wish too can take the moneya nd run leaving permaculture with a tarnised rep and 2 - a re-defining/watering down of permaculture to the techie approach of rationalists thus losing its revolutionary community building 00 aspects. i feel that trademarking PC etc is a good way of grounding what has been developed so far but i wish to restate my opinion that it should be the movement as a whole that do this rather than a few indiviuals however noble or otherwise their intentions may be. namaste - Ken Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. |
