For those of us not concerned with fecal-phobia, wattle and daub, which is the
name for cow-shit walls, is an option, though your typical US building
inspector may have a cerebral hemmorage. (Yea, Darwin!) It is documented in
many places, including a little book from SKAT in Switzerland (in English and
presumably other languages.) If there is interest and no one has the info
right at hand, ask and I'll get it on the list.

Wattle and daub has many variations, including use of straw in the mortar as a
binding agent, use of clays to partially or entirely substitute for manure,
and use of split bamboo instead of sticks as the supporting substrate. Woven
split bamboo makes a great material--sort of a sustainable form of
ferrocement. The addition of lime, as has been suggested, would discourage
termites and tend to preserve the wood--I don't know how it would interact
with the manure. It would be inexpensive to experiment with a pig hut or dog
house to see how it works.

Funny how India is so well populated with all this deadly manure in the walls,
waiting to reach out and strike them down!
