right now, I agree our vision might be too long for people to actually read it entirely. how can this be changed?

If you don't respond, I'll assume you think our current mission and vision statements are absolutely perfect and that they shouldn't be changed one bit. which I doubt is true ;)
The current mission and vision statements are, as you correctly described,
absolutely perfect and shouldn't be changed one bit.
The mission statement may change over time to reflect interest and
involvement in
new projects and with other organizations. The vission statement is a
far-reaching
description of our general area of involvement, hopes, inspiration for the
long haul.
