I received a call last week from a friend, Jim Weaver, asking for someone
to do a bee removal from an old, uninhabited house on a large tract of land
in Caswell Co. The property is used as a hunt club by himself and several
others men. The location is about 20 miles north of Hillsborough off of Hwy.
86 toward Danville. Jim states that the bees have been behind the clap
boards of the house for 5 or 6 years but become a nuisance/aggressive when
he mows. I was thinking or hoping that unless someone would love to get
right on this job we might use the opportunity for our club to have some
bee removal training with inspectors and all since this is something that
could wait. Jim would very much appreciate hearing from someone who can
help, and his contact number is 919 782-3096. He lives in Raleigh.

Is this an ok time to collect these bees? If they have been there for 5 years I'd be willing to bet there is quite a large colony. If they are removed now would we be jeopardizing their chances of surviving in a Langstroth hive over this winter?

Jeff
