I had my first run in with peach tree borers today. I found 5 on a four or so
year old tree. I think I nabbed them all. Mostly the damage was pretty much
on the surface, except for one spot that seems to have created a pretty deep
crater. I'm not all that enamored of biodynamics in general, but remember
hearing about biodynamic tree paste and thinking it made sense. I wondered
what you all would do with such an injury-- let the tree take care of itself
or try something like tree paste on it. I cleaned the gum out with the wire I
used to lance the borers, figuring that might be important. Any suggestions
on what is best in these cases? At the least, I'm thinking of whipping up
some tree paste to prevent future damage on other trees. But I don't think
I'll bother applying it during a waxing moon-- or was a waning moon? Aww
shoot....

I planted about 30 Carmine Jewel in full sun in 2011 and they are only
about 3 1/2 feet high. I wonder what the difference is... I should
on flower set..
