The one fruitful beach plum that I had produced decent crops of small, very
tart fruits that would hang well on the plant, and would, if not picked, dry
on the plant. But, even at peak ripeness, there was hardly enough pulp
surrounding the pit to bother with picking them, other than popping a few in
my mouth if I happened to be passing by the bush.

I planted a bunch of beach plums 20 years ago. They've all since turned
into thickets, they produce lotsa very astringent fruit that tend to get
some disease that make the fruit mummified. In this climate and soils they
do well.
