Can apple hybridize (freely) with native crab-apple (i.e. Malus ioensis,
etc.) - one is 2x and the other is 3x.
I'm certain people say that crab-apples are used to pollinate their apples;
maybe they are referring to exotic species of crab-apples - that they have
the same ploidy profile?
