Van Well has the advantages you can generally expect from a nursery that
supplies commercial growers. A good price on quality trees, true to name
(both scion and rootstock) and a reliable order and delivery system. They
also let you know ahead of time the size of tree you are purchasing and are
often larger than those from other sources of bare root fruit trees..
The liabilities are that they carry only varieties that are viable for
commercial production and they are not particularly fluent in the issues
specific to small home orchard growing to the degree of some companies that
primarily serve that market- such as Trees of Antiquity or Raintree.
