Group:
Is Japanese-raisin tree (Hovenia dulcis) a nitrogen-fixing plant? It is a
member of the Rhamnaceae (Buck-thorn family), which includes some nitrogen
fixing plants (i.e. Ceonothus spp., etc.).It's in the same tribe (Phyliceae)
as jujube (Ziziphus jujuba) - and, if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure I
read some scientific journal(s) noting that jujube fixes nitrogen; however, I
haven't found any source claiming Japanese-raisin tree to be nitrogen-fixing.
Thanks,
Steve - NJ 6b/7a
