Jerry,
Thanks for sharing your experience. Several companies sell them and claim
they are hardy to either z 5 or 6, but I am skeptical.
Does anyone in warmer zones grow them?
Anyone in the Rockies or areas of lower humidity?
Michele

Hi Michele,
I'm in zone 5b west central Indiana. I've had D. lotus growing here for
quite a few years. Freezes to the ground nearly every year and none have
ever
fruited. Some of the original seedlings have given up and died. I've also
tasted them, nothing to get excited about. Nothing like kaki or virginiana.
My
advise is don't waste your time.
Jerry
