- Subject: [NAFEX] Rootstock for Apricot?
- Date: Tue, 24 May 2011 12:36:38 -0400 (EDT)
Group:
Oikos Tree Crops sells a Russian-bred apricot cv. 'Briana'. It's listed as:
Prunus armeniaca; hardy to -30F.
1. Can I definitely use this as a root-stock for a standard apricot cultivar,
such as 'Tomcot'?
2. Would I be better off using a root-stock such as Lovell, Marriana, or
Citation? If so, which? (Northeast; NJ; well-drained, black moist soil with
clay-beneath).
3. Is it legal for me to request scion-wood for 'Tomcot', or is it protected?
Thanks,
Steve; NJ 6b/7a
