- Subject: [NAFEX] Apple replant disease: fact or fiction?
- Date: Sun, 22 May 2011 19:33:10 -0700 (PDT)
I have this one spot in my orchard that over the past 4 years has held a
Carrol for 2 years, then a Hardi-Mac and lastly a Courtland. But the year
the Carrol died, everyone in the area lost their Carrols, even 20+ year old
Carrols. The Hardi-Mac may have succumbed to the drought and my getting to
busy to baby it until it was a bit too late. And who knows how hardy a fall
planted, potted Courtland is up here even over a mild winter where we didn't
even hit -40.
Anyone??? What does 'replant disease' look like? Can I plant a pear in the
same spot and be ok? How far away do I have to move to avoid murdering yet
another tree (of any kind) in the same grave?
