My plum trees were within the fenced in area and PC was in every fruit so
I picked wild plums instead. Wild plums are rarely infected with PC. This
year, my fence goes around the plums and we'll see what difference it makes.
Also, the plums are near the bee hives. Skunks are attracted to bees. They
eat bees. They scratch at the landing board and eat any that come out to
investigate. I keep a fence around the bees so maybe the skunks will find
the nearby plums.
I am also planning to put Class 5 around the plum trees which would
(hopefully) make the soil too compacted for PC to burrow in so, again
hopefully, the wandering spiders may catch some of the PC.
