I'd sent this to just Lori, but decided I might as well forward it to the
list also. Kind of addresses some other questions tossed my way.

I use it without thinking about that - shall have to look when I get home
tonight for certain. The one I have was made in eastern Europe, I do recall
that.

On the A.M. Leonard site (http://www.amleo.com/grafting-tool/p/GT3/) it
looks like this one. Seems to me way back when I bought it, I paid $20 - 25
for it. But that was over 25 years ago.

I've used it when scion and rootstock were a good match for size, and also
when they were considerably different - the "keyhole" cut makes it easier to
line up the cambium on at least one side. And the keyhole cut gives some
extra stability.

As for using a knife vs the tool, at least partly all those years ago when I
started I had trouble getting the angles well matched. Back then both hands
and eyes worked better than they do now - although I am actually in pretty
good health. Normal wear & tear - plus too many hours sitting in front of a
computer for work over the past 35+ years. ;-}
