Since you say "The plant", I assume you only had one? Maypop is
self-incompatible, and you would need a second different maypop for
cross-pollination. Even with two plants and fruit set, the fruit would likely
never ripen in a zone 4 growing season.

I would love to try growing pawpaws here since the USDA has declared my
area to now be in zone 4. I am hesitant because I've had problems with
pollination with other fruits I've tried. I'll pick Maypop as an example.
The plant grew well and bloomed profusely but the local bees failed to
recognize the flowers as flowers, giving it no pollination.
