These orchards are fun to visit, especially Andy Mariani's.

Andy's tastings are wonderful. Last time I went, there were over 70
varieties of peaches and plums. The first tasting in the spring features (of
four tastings) features cherries and early apricots. You can do a walk
through the orchard and pick as you go plus buy fresh picked fruit in the
little store. It is well worth a visit if you are anywhere nearby during
any of the fruit harvest season.

Andy has a mail order business with very tasty fruit--picked when fully
ripened. He has the unusual Baby Crawford peach and Flavor Grenade pluots in
the dried fruit list. He has Transparent Gauge plum, Snow Queen White
Nectarine, and Flavor King Pluot jam--and other varieties at times too. When
you are there in person, he has extensive number of varieties to choose
from.

And no, I do not work there--he is just a fantastic person and grower of
fruit. He also supplies an extensive amount of scion wood for our scion
exchanges for California Rare fruit Growers.

This article did make on mistake. The fruit tree orchard at Prusch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Prusch_Farm_Park is all stone fruit and
figs. The apples, pears and quinces are across the valley at Filoli
http://www.filoli.org/ where the climate is more suited to them. The other
orchard there-- the rare fruit one is well worth a visit.
