Ernest, my mother used to make them all the time, either all mulberry (with a
good shot of lemon juice to enliven the taste), or mixed with rhubarb, which
in Kansas was in season at the same time the mulberries were ripe. These
were Russian mulberry seedlings, M. alba. I don't know what M. nigra fruit
tastes like, but we thought the Russian mulberries were pretty darn good,
especially eaten with country cream and a sprinkling of sugar. -- Sam

Anyone ever eat a mulberry pie? I have never seen fresh mulberries
for sale.
