Ginda,

I share your experience with Acai but have become quite fond of aronia.  I did not like it initially but it grows on you.

I don't get it, either.  I see all sorts of juices advertising Acai, and a lot of "natural" brands of prepared foods are now colored with Aronia.  I avoid both of them, as I don't care for the flavor.  I'll sometimes buy something colored with Aronia, but I almost always prefer the version that was colored with artificial food dyes.  Aronia has a slightly astringent taste (that's not quite right, but I'm not sure how to describe it) that's strong enough to notice in foods where it's used for a coloring agent.

Acai is more likely to be a major ingredient, and it has a sickly-sweet aftertaste that I don't like.  I don't buy those products.

Why Acai?

Someone must have realized that he could pay some poor 'Third World Ghost' a dollar a bushel for these things!
And that same person turned them into 'mystery health juice' for the 'well to do' folks. Wow.

Last week I saw a gadget that plugs into your cigarette lighter and increases your car mileage by 24%.
It's true! Santa Claus uses one on his sleigh! good grief.............
