Without seeing any photos, I can tell you that
Methley is a variety that has been widely sold. If someone planted it who
was just an ordinary person who just ordered ordinary varieties from ordinary
companies, it's very likely to be Methley. I picked some from a tree next
door to where I worked about 15 years ago, the tree died the next year from
black knot. The fruit was dark reddish and of course soft and juicy,
typcial Japanese plum effect. Donna
