I think your trees will do OK; we have some seedlings in a naturalized park here growing well with less sun. It's said to be often an understory tree in the wild; seems to like some wind shelter. But as Lee has pointed out, you need more sun for best fruiting.
My impression is also that they like moist soil and plenty of organic matter, as you might expect with a bottomland tree.
