Depending on cultivar, they are small to large bushes with brittle stems (except for new growth). Fruit tends to be tubular in shape, and many people think it reminds them of blueberries. However, it is more tender and soft. I doubt they would ship very well if allowed to ripen. The ripe fruit stains and is easily damaged with handling. I think it is a very worthwhile addition to my garden. Fruit ripens before strawberries and blueberries here (most varieties). I seem to have better results with the later blooming selections due to lack of pollinators when the earlier ones bloom. There are many good pictures on the web. Google "honeyberry" or check on-line catalogs of Raintree or One Green World for variety names (esp. OGW) for pictures or varieties currently available in the states.
