It would also help to know a little about the conditions the tress will have to face. Is there lots of auto traffic and air pollution? Are there lots of dog walkers and dog poop/pee? Will the roots be able to spread out under the brick sidewalk, or will the underground part of the tree be enclosed? If the roots can spread, about how far? (often road are effectively barriers for roots.)
I doubt I can help much, but I know these are the questions that urban landscapers ask before selecting trees for a location.
