It sound like you (or Dave Wilson nurseries) by accident have found the solution to the rootstock problem.  I will have to get some myrobalan 29 C rootstock and see if this will work in Houston.  Certainly the standard cherry rootstocks do not.

I have both these cherries in my yard (on Myro 29C rootstock). They bloomed the first year but did not set fruit. However, they set fruit the second year. I was very satisfied with the amount of fruit they set and the flavor. Satisfied enough that although I am forced to sell my house and leave my magnificent garden behind, I bought them as bareroot trees this season to be moved and planted where I land.
