I do have Jonagold. Unfortunately it is in a biannual bearing pattern and I
had a huge crop last year and very few apples this year. It has been hardy
for me. I find it a good and flavorful apple in most years. I do not have
good luck with most of the Minnesota introductions such as Sweet 16 or
Elstar. I doubt that Honeygold would do very good here. I believe we get
too hot during a normal summer. My favorite apples are Chieftain, Empire,
Jonagold, Golden Russet, Ashmead's Kernal, and for an early August-September
apple, Mollie's Delicious. Judson L. Frisk

I've read that it likes a coolish growing climate by North American
standards but that it is not very winter-hardy, and I'm curious.
