If tarnished plant bug is in your mix of potential pests, I do not recommend clover or any dicot as a ground cover around orchards.  TPB can make a home of such plants and jump  onto the trees every time you mow and start feeding on peaches and other fruit.  Seems that if the groundcover is allowed to go unmowed it's not such a problem, but dicots take up a lot of water (which this year is a good thing, so far).  Spare the mowing and they take a lot more.
