I have about 8 trees that I grew from seed brought back from Georgia (Asia).  They have never had winterkill.  I've tried others that were killed back regularly.  However, they also haven't fruited yet, although I saw some tassles this past spring.   Hector Black middle TN zone 6

I know plenty of people in the Midwest who have grown Juglans regia very well. Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, etc. The place you really should ask is the Northern Nut Growers. They know what cultivars work in what areas.

Lon is in the PNW where they grow fine.  I think if you were in the PNW you wouldn't be asking the question, you'd already know someone with a tree or two.  In the southeast, they suffer from the variable winter temps we get.  Donna_______________________________________________
