Fluffy, I suspect that you have been a bit out of touch as Bush left the White House a few months back!

On a more serious note, it is a shame that the past 8 years has seen an attack on science that has caused issues such as Global Warming to become politicised to the extent that it promotes knee jerk reactions rather than an exploration of the evidence and reasoned discussions.  NAFEX, I would like to believe, is rooted in objective science not emotional rhetoric.  (After all, we could argue that grafting is clearly immoral and unnatural, since if God wanted us to have one type of Apple growing on another type of Rootstock, HE would have created it that way).  A true understanding and application of the objective scientific method is what has brought us to the modern world technologies that have provided us with a better standard of living, less pain through modern medicine and many other wonderful things.

I am also appalled that this list would be used for political commentary instead of reasoned discourse about fruit exploration and further concerned that the membership, list moderator and NAFEX administration would tolerate it.  I would prefer to not know your political persuasion nor do I think it relevant that anybody know mine, what ever it may be..

Can we not be informal but maintain some relevance and decorum as well?

LOL, ROTFLMAO:

You can find global warming with Nessie, BigFoot, and the Tri-Lateral Commission.

If I did not think it was a total crock I would actually look forward to being able to grow Apricots, peaches, and nectarines.

When I was a kid we feared the ice age they told us about in grade school that was coming from man's interference with the environment.

Now the thing I fear most is the idiot in the White House.  Oh well.  The cool weather is allowing me another planting of radishes.

Frost tonight.  Saw snow flakes yesterday.  Tomatoes plants have died
from frost.  Where is global warming?  Two college girls came to
house to preach the horrors of global warming.  I asked them how they
knew about global warming.  They said they just know-people are bad
to environment.  Most of my apple trees have not come out of
hibernation or are dead.  Crab apple trees grown from Siberian
rootstock are flowering profusely.
