I always prefer selections from the wild. They are less likely to have all their taste and fortitude bred out of them. On the other hand, they sometimes can be tempermental and have small or irregular fruiting. I guess it depends on the species and the selection. Like anything else, some are great and others, not so much.

After all, a great many of the varieties we know of are just that,
selections.
