I'm in zone 9 Louisiana, and would also be interested in apples that can take this climate. According to the last issue of Pomona, they are growing apples in Puerto Rico, so there should be a range of varieties that can take the heat and humidity. One of my friends tells me the apple trees planted around here only last ten years or less though. It hardly seems worth it.

Subject: [NAFEX] zone 9 apple?
I have friends who relocated from zone 4 Iowa to zone 9 Texas. Needless to say, they've had quite a learning experience so far. I'm sure I've read on here before that there aren't many apples that would grow in Texas. Can anyone point me to some sources for Texas fruit trees?
