It sounds like the Huaranga has adapted to a similar water capturing strategy to the coastal redwoods of California. Captured fog is the primary water resource of the central California coast. It is always damp and cool in the forest. Where the trees have been denuded, the soil is parched and temperatures soar. The streams dry up and even the toughest succulents struggle to survive.
