That's nice for growing rosemary, but it doesn't sound like it would help keep the deer away.

    There is a Rosemary, variety 'Arp,' that I've gotten through my zone 3
winters.  To accomplish that, it must be covered with a wide container so
the plant is exposed to air all around it and the container covered with a
THICK layer of mulch.  If the plant is mulched like any other, it will rot.
Then, just as soon as the snow melts off it, or even a little sooner, it
must be uncovered.
