There's a story from the Edmundton, Alberta, paper about how Evans found
this cherry tree in a garden/orchard that was about to be bulldozed.

in Wikipedia. --

According to legend Evans cherry was found growing wild on the Canadian
prairie. Its history before this find is unclear. I am wondering if
there are different Evans cherry or different strains.
My Evans cherry trees have their trunks buried in ice and snow now.
I'll check them as soon as the snow shrinks because I think they were
grafted. I never paid too much attention before if they were grafted.
The weather here is bad. Another 7-8 inches of snow and also strong
winds a few days ago. I would like to grow cherries but cherry trees
don't like it here. Any suggestions?
