What could sillier than laymen debating the merits of the theory of global warming? Like it or not the debate is over and the scientific (and political) verdict is in. That isn't to say that 100% of climatologists and meteorologists agree- only that there is very broad consensus. There can almost never be absolute consensus on anything amongst experts. Consensus is not the same as fact but it's better than running on the theory held by the extreme minority. I don't mind hearing scientists questioning the conclusions of other scientists but can we spare this site the boring debate of the nonspecialists who are only running on what I perceive to be an exaggerated sense of their own common sense.
If the experts who are warning about global warming are wrong, which they admit is entirely possible- we'll probably find out shortly. It is very unlikely that there is the political will to bring about the reductions in carbon dioxide emissions to stop the calamity they are predicting- if disaster is avoided it will probably be because their predictions were wrong and all you brilliant counter theorists can say "I told you so". It will please the rest of us immensely.
