I grow one vine of canadice, and in my climate (eastern ma, zone 6, less
than full sun) it grows up. It always looks like it's trying to get into
the nearby oak tree, in fact.
Hmmm, maybe it can tell the tree is there from the pattern of shadow and
_is_ trying to get into it. The part on the other side of the arch is less
upright. None of it ever droops, however.
