That's interesting. Cornell Extension will do you a boron test, complete with recommendations. (at least unless they've stopped doing them; they've certainly been offering this for years).
Maybe NC doesn't think whatever test Cornell does is reliable? Maybe the soils in that area are different, and the test is more reliable on some soils than others?
