Bob Bors has been working on breeding the edible honeysuckle, but his material probably wouldn't do that well in much of the US because it's bred for the prairie provinces where climate makes the plants behave differently than farther south. He is using some of the material from Dr. Maxine Thompson's work to bring in larger berry size and productivity. He has more resources to put into the work, which is one reason he has material close to being released. Dr. Thompson recently lost the use of the land where most of her material was located and is now moving a select group onto her own land. Since she's in her 80's now, that's a daunting task. She has some excellent selections of Haskap (her name for the edible honeysuckle) and has a number of them out for advanced testing.

There is pretty good evidence that Saskatchewan

Hey Sarah,

There's only one way you can prove to me that this
supposed "Canada" place actually exists: smuggle me
some of those intriguing new haskap varieties, and
those dwarf cherries too. The only nurseries I've
found selling them are in Canada, and don't ship to
the US. Sure. This is looking more and more
suspicious.
