Thanks Dennis and Ed,
The scab pictures on the Kearneysville site look a
lot like my twigs. And I've never sprayed for scab. The only thing
that puzzles me is that I didn't recognize any scab on the leaves last summer
(obviously there was no fruit). The leaves looked normal and healthy
except for some mottling. I sent a leaf sample in for nutrient analysis
and it came back OK in N and P but very low in Mn. I thought about doing
a foliar spray this year for Mn but thought I'd give it one more season,
and ease up on the watering to see if that doesn't straighten it out. I'll
keep in mind about the scale. I'm not sure I could identify it if I saw
it. Any easy way an amateur can tell if it's scale?
