I have a friend who is unable to have an in-ground garden this year and
so he intends to grow a few tomatoes in large pots or barrels on his
patio. So, I told him I'd try to find some appropriate varieties.
Right now I have some Husky Red, Husky Red Cherry, and Bush Goliath
tomato seedlings under grow lights in the basement. I have not tasted
any of these, but they all are indeterminates with shorter-than-normal
internodes. The seed catalogs said they would top out at about 5 ft.
and could probably be managed with one sturdy stake per plant. I
ordered this type of tomato because I was not sure whether some of the
short determinate varieties would fruit all season long. Could anyone
enlighten me on this? Thanks. -- Sam Brungardt, St. Paul, Minn.

Hey, tomatoes are fruit. . .

I know a man who usually plants a large garden, but who is very ill,
and will not be able to do that this year. I would like to get him a
patio tomato plant or two. Does anyone have advice re:

Good tasting patio tomatoes?
Good sources for them?
Tips on planting, etc., to keep it as low-effort as possible?

Thanks,
Ginda
