I don't know how hardy it is, but St. Lawrence Nurseries propagates
Northrop mulberry that originated in New York State along the
U.S.-Canadian border (see
http://www.sln.potsdam.ny.us/timber.html#Northrop_Mulberry). I noticed
that it is offered again this year after having been out of the catalog
for two or three years. I've always wondered if it would prove to be as
hardy here in the Upper Midwest, where the air is less humid in the

Thank you for the info. We were on a hiking trip and stopped under the
tree for about 10 minutes. The guide called the tree a black mulberry.
I was too tired to pay it much attention. I wish I could grow a
mulberry tree on the Canadian border.
