A melon farmer in California once told me that he only knew of one variety of cantaloupe that would keep well in cold storage and he was raising it. It was bred for keeping, not for taste. Compared to most melons I can buy from a seed catalog, the keeper tastes like cardboard. To buy seed from a commercial supplier, go to www.stokeseed.com or 1-800-396-9238.
