Thanks so much for all the information, folks! Yep, I know it's thorny, it suckers, the fruit's astringent. I want to try making sloe gin from scratch, though. And I think it would make good preserves.
It was very interesting learning that it was part of the process of breeding Prunus domestica. I had always assumed Prunus domestica just came about naturally...
