I live in Nova Scotia, (Canada). My soil is quite acidic (pH 5.6 on a soil
analysis in
2003 ). We do not have plain lime in NS; the only lime we can get is
dolomitic lime. I
have been adding dolomitic lime for several years. Now my pH is still
somewhat
low, but my Mg level is above the "recommended level". I have not been able
to
find out whether "excessive" levels of Mg actually cause any toxicity or
harm. I still
need to get more lime into my soil. Does it matter that I will also be
increasing my
Mg levels beyond their already "excessive" level?
