Regarding John Barbowski's partner's translation,
 
"The common folk refer to it as black mountain ash, however this plant (Sorbus malanocarpa)"
 
She says the berries are deep orange and can be used for preserves.\
 
To this I can only say,  "AAAHHHHH!!!!"  This is another term for Aronia, (which would make Hans right and Jim wrong) BUT Mountain ash definitely has orange berries, and Aronia malanocarpa definitely has black berries.   Donna
