>>Will Baldwin and MN 447 taste good in my area because of the summertime
100 degrees?

no apple (at least none I am familiar with) like 100 degree temperatures -
but they will tolerate them in an immature state - it is the temps the last
few days/weeks before harvest that matter - if those Baldwins are a week
from harvest and the days are 90* and the night 75* they will turn soft and
greasy, having never developed good quality - that they are dark red means
that the sun will heat them beyond air temp, so if it is 90* and sunny,
they will cook on the tree, never developing good quality -

I'm not familiar with MN 447, but I'd wager the same general principles
apply -

for consistant apple quality from year to year, look to varieties that
mature in the season when the days are bright and cool and the nights are
crisp - yellow is better than red in hot climes -

regards - D
