Hi,
Grafting goes back thousands of years and was done with nothing more than sharp sticks, willow bark and mud/dung protection.
The tools we have in our junk drawers are 100,000% better than early man's grafting tools. And they were successful at grafting too.
Grafting is simple, and getting simpler everyday.
People should not be put-off by the "mystique".

Tom

Richard,
I agree that grafting is quite simple, only one or two things to
remember (have dormant wood in Spring, and match the cambiums). I think
that it is in the aftercare of the graft where people fail.

Lee Reich notes that his hort professor taught that "any fool can_______________________________________________
graft", so that encouraged me to plunge in, give it a try, and be willing to learn
from my failures.
