Doubles are an inherited trait that is triggered by higher than usual temperatures at bloom time. "Bing" cherry will produce a lot of doubles in California's central valley, but almost none here in the NW. Dr. H.P. Olmo grew out seedlings of Bing and selected some that resembled Bing, but produced a much lower percentage of doubles. At least one was released under the name of Brooks.

I have notice an anomaly that is interesting. About 20% of the plums are doubles.
Is this a normal occurrence for plums or could it be a result of the previous
year's trauma?
