Had a chance to get out in the nursery beds for a few minutes yesterday morning.
I grafted some walnuts with a visiting veterinary student on Thursday; the ones that were done as a 3-flap graft are bleeding like crazy, despite a couple of 'girdling' cuts below the graft - I suspect that NONE of these will take, based on previous experience.
Guess I should have followed Richard O'Barr's recommendation to cut these rootstocks off and wait until they stopped bleeding to graft - but lack of patience reared its ugly head again, and it looks like it'll cost me. Again.
None of the 'sap-stopper' bark grafts are bleeding excessively.
