I only have a few, grown near Quebec, zone 4.

Geneva (M.niedzwetzkyana seedling, Ottawa 1928), 1st crop this year, harvested August 26, avereage size 50 mm, max 52 mm, nice small apple, no scab, dark red skin, flesh red, getting white near the center. Not really good to eat fresh. Juice test result: S.Density 1.047, titrable acidity 1.2% as tartaric. Juice has a fairly good taste, but acidic, dark reddish.

Glowing Heart (M.niedzwetzkyana x George Cave, by Fred Janson), 1st crop this year, harvested August 26, avereage size 58 mm, max 65 mm. Got less than 10 apples, and a few had already fallen to the ground. Nice, dark red, does have some scab, quite good to eat as an early apple - quality comparable or better than others that ripen at the same period (Duchess for example). Flesh is quite dark, similar to Geneva in color.

Pink Princess (Pink Pearl x King of Pippins, by Fred Janson), 1st crop in 2003, but I didn't get any since. Rather small apple (50-55 mm), skin and flesh rather dark pink, very good quality, late ripening (October 5), no scab.

I would like to compare notes with anyone growing the following red/pink fleshed apples, especially in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S. I'd like to know your location, USDA zone, the ripening date, flavor, texture, size and susceptability to any particular disease/fungus/insect pest. The varieties are:

Pink Pearl
Rubyiat
Webster Pink Meat
Scarlet Surprise (Bill's Red Flesh)
Niedzwetzkyana
Almata
Winter Red Flesh
Pink Sparkle (Pink Permain)
Hall's Pink
Mott's Pink
Pink Parfait
Pink Princess (Old Pink Lady Janson)
Bruford's Red Flesh

If you have pink/red flesh varieties that aren't listed above I'd like to hear about them. Thanks. Chris Patterson SE Pa Zone 6 _______________________________________________
